The frozen franchise has been assuming the world since it began in 2013! The spectators love their strong female characters and their connections with the nature and the world around us.
Anna and Elsa’s costumes are two of the most important aspects of the film. Children everywhere love dress like these empowering princesses. But do you know how the costumes came to the big screen? Here are 10 facts that did not know about the costumes of the Princess in Frozen and Frozen II.
- Costumes in frozen are not exactly exactly exactly. The creators of the film modernized the appearance of Anna and Elsa to attract the audience and make them easier to franchise and become costumes! For example, Elsa and Anna would use much wider skirts than in the film. They would also have very elegant jewels because they are royalty!
- Who is the true Rapunzel? Frozen animators used new technology to give it 420,000 ELSA hair threads. That’s more than Rapunzel in the entangled movie! Both characters actually have more hair threads than the average human, we only have around 100,000.
- Technology for Frozen II was much more advanced, especially for your costumes. The animators could even show the individual threads in the embroidery in the clothes of the characters! And every pearl in Elsa’s dress was originally made, so he could interact with light alone and be more realistic.
- In both films, Anna and Elsa have many differences. Those differences begin right in their inspirations: while Anna is inspired by Norwegian culture, Elsa is inspired by Icelandic culture. This gives them every different costumes when separating them and adding historical elements. Very cool!
- In Frozen II, Elsa’s dress is shorter than in her original suit. This represents the call of it to the adventure of it, it is much easier to jump in a shorter skirt! The animators also had to find out how to encourage their feet, because they were not shown in the previous films.
- When designing Anna’s disguise for Frozen II, the costume artists made hardcore brain. They had 122 ideas for Anna’s travel suit before they decided one! They played with palettes of colors, accessories and as many other combinations. Anna finished with a purple layer and a deep black dress.
- During “Unknown” in Frozen II, Elsa is not wearing her blue ice dress. She carries a dark purple, which represents the inner conflict of her and the new darkness of this story. Elsa goes on a great trip in this movie, and she comes from her’s own. She faces her own darkness and she looks great as you do it!
- Another difference between Elsa and Anna are the ways in which both share aspects of the films. Anna’s costumes represent the fairy tale side of the stories. She is much more playful and colorful. Elsa’s costumes are more inspired by the myths and legends of Nordic culture, and she uses simpler and mysterious clothing.
- Anna’s hairstyle changes between the two films. In the first, she wore braids, to symbolize her ties with her childhood. In Frozen II, she has her hair half and a half down, to represent that she is maturing. Anna’s story is much more serious and solemn in the second film, and it is quite surprising that her hair represents this.
- Costumes in Frozen II were inspired greatly in autumn and incorporated the colors and the autumn tone. Frozen was more inspired by winter, so it’s amazing to see the second film that is branched and becomes more colorful. In addition, although the fall becomes winter, it also represents the Renaissance, which adapts to the film and its new beginnings.
